Well the Opal Festival is over for another year.  Despite a rain delay all who attended had a great time.  The novelty events were popular as was the band and the circus act at the beginning of the festival.  Time changes for events were necessary and unfortunately some events/entertainment was cancelled.  Thank you to all the fantastic volunteers, stall holders, parade entries and competitors for making it a very successful day.

The CrackUp Sisters are coming to the Coober Pedy Opal Festival 7th April 2012…

Posted under News by admin on Sunday 25 March 2012 at 7:13 am

The CrackUp Sisters are coming to The Coober Pedy Opal Festival – get excited …cause they sure are.

These two rascally far western Queensland characters S.T Ruth ( better known as Struth) and little sister B-Ute will have you in stitches as they strut, crack and tumble their way through incredibly physical shows. They smash together slapstick acrobatic comedy, stunts, dance, jokes, liberty horse-sheila-ship and some world class stock whipcracking in ways you’ve never seen before.

The sisters have a burning passion for the Australian Stockwhip and will love to share ways the audience can integrate stock whips into everyday life. Their other passions to share will be eating meat pies, becoming female bull riders and professional windmill construction – yep these two are masters of the ridiculous.

The CrackUp Sisters have performed their very unique, Australian bush humour across the country from Freemantle Street Festival in WA, to Winton Outback Festival from The Perth Royal to Brisbane Royal. They’ve hosted the John Williamson Great Australian Muster, been a hit at a 50th birthday party and featured at The Calgary Stampede in Canada.

They are classic Aussie chicks with a whole lot’a grit and wit, you won’t believe their antics but you’ll love watching them get away with it!
